What a beautiful sunny, windy, chilly morning to wrap up and stroll up Mottistone Down with Charlie dog. We started at Mottistone Down car park, PO30 4JH where you can park for free. Wander through the gate and up the hill as far as you want to and back down again enjoying the wonderful coastal views, or go the whole hog and walk the 5 miles to Freshwater beach, have a little sunbathe and head back again to make a day of it. It’s is quite Continue reading →

Beautiful end to a beautiful day watching the sunset at Gurnard beach, Isle Wight! If it’s been one of those gorgeous sunny days when you know the sky will be putting on an evening display, there is no better place on the Island than Gurnard to soak up those last few rays of sunshine. Take a picnic or a bottle of wine, wrap up warm and watch the sun go down on Gurnard beach, or grab a window seat at The Woodvale pub and relax. Continue reading →

Huuuuuuge congratulations to Mark for running The London Marathon in 3hr 21mins! We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone, including many of our lovely guests, who sponsored Mark. He raised over £1000 for Diabetes UK, a cause close to our hearts as Type 1 runs in our family. What a fantastic day, we couldn’t be more proud, all that training around our hilly island paid off, well done!
Isle of Wight Festival 2014 Another fabulous Isle of WIght Festival! Perfect sunny weather and discovering some top new bands made it one of the best in our 10 years here! Amber Run and The Struts were definite highlights, with James Walsh from Star Sailor and Calvin Harris big faves too. Thanks as usual to all our lovely guests for making it such a fun weekend, and for looking after our house…no mud this year, yay! Fab to see some of you again and great Continue reading →
A great day out at Carisbrooke Castle! We really enjoyed ourselves at Carisbrooke Castle over the school holidays. Set amongst stunning scenery, the castle is beautifully preserved with something for everyone. Our kids particularly loved the wall walk which goes all around the walls of the castle, the donkeys and the seemingly bottomless well – throw in a penny and wait for the splash, it takes ages! Come and stay with us at The Caledon Guest House in Cowes, just 15 mins drive away. Have a read Continue reading →
Congratulations to Mark for his fantastic effort on Sunday, his first ever marathon in 3hrs 51mins, pretty amazing I reckon (ok so I am a little biased!) Well done to all the other runners too, including some of our guests who took part. The Isle of Wight Marathon has been running continuously since 1957 making it the longest running marathon in the UK – there you go fact fans! So who’s up for entering next year?
